The Ninny/The Governess Assessment

In the short story "The Ninny", an employer plays a cruel trick on his/her governess, Yulia Vasilyevna by cheating her out her out of the money she earned. Yulia is referred to as a "ninny" because she doesn't stand up for herself as the employer makes up foolish reasons for deducting Yulia's salary. "The Governess" was based on this story as is very similar to "The Ninny" except for the fact that "The Governess" is written in the form of a play. I, personally, thought that both stories were very good. They both contained humor and both stories taught a lesson about standing up for yourself at the end. Although both were good, I think I still prefer "The Ninny" over "The Governess" because I feel like it because it was the original story and it was easier to read because of it's story format. The employer of both plays the trick on the governess to teach her a lesson about being assertive. Both governesses could have been assertive respectfully by telling the employer how they felt about the unfair salary deductions. If you know that you are being treated unfairly, you must stand up for what you believe in.
