Sucking The Marrow Out Of Life!!!!

"Sucking the marrow out of life doesn't mean choking on the bone." In the movie, Dead Poets Society, the students in Welton Academy were preparing to go to Ivy league schools to be doctors, lawyers or judges. The words that Mr Keating spoke to the boys changed their minds. They didn't want to do what their parents wanted; they wanted to be actors, musicians, sports players. They were rebels. They didn't do what their parents wanted; they did what they wanted!
The quote read by Mr. Keating makes me think about doing things that are not ordinary. Doing things “normal” is no longer an option; I have to go above and beyond. I do have a few phobias that might hold me back from being more than normal, but I think that I could overcome those fears for an exciting adventure or special activity that I wouldn't do normally.

"There’s a time for daring and there’s a time for caution, and a wise man understands which is called for."

“There’s a time for daring and there’s a time for caution, and a wise man understands which is called for.” This quote was said by Mr. Keating, the English teacher in “Dead Poet’s Society”. This quote speaks to me more than the others from the “Dead Poet’s Society”. It can mean something different to anyone who reads it but to me it means one thing. When I hear this quote, I think of being my own person, but a person who knows how to react to life. There are many lessons we must learn in school but they don’t make us wise, experience does. We must learn when it is time to be daring or cautious from our own experience. The first time something happens you are not going to know the correct way to react, but if you learn from that and make the right decision next time, you are becoming wise. If you make a mistake and the situation recurs but you didn’t learn from the first time then you aren’t wise.

Life calls for quick reactions and sometimes we react the wrong way. In the “Dead Poet’s Society”, Mr. Keating speaks using this quote after a daring attempt which gets one of the boys in serious trouble. In this case Mr. Keating feels that he should have been more cautious but he is going to have to learn from his mistake and move on with his life and not do it again. In almost all of our lives we have a situation we must face where we must decide to be daring or cautious. The boys in the movie also had to make a choice, which they couldn’t do on their own before being taught by Mr. Keating. This quote as a whole means we must make decisions, sometimes the decisions can be harder to make, but we must make them and we must learn from them so we can one day become wise. One time I had to make a quick decision when someone asked me a question but I made the wrong choice. Instead of just forgetting everything, I made a mental note of them so the next time I had a similar situation I could make the right decision.

Carpe diem, seize the day, make your lives extraordinary.

“Carpe diem, seize the day, make your lives extraordinary.”  is a quote from Dead Poet’s Society and this relates to me in many ways. Make the day yours, live life to the fullest. Make every day of your life worth it and don’t regret anything. Stand up to one of your biggest fears and make your fear afraid of you. Be different from everything and everyone else; be your own self  and don’t be a follower, be a leader, be extraordinary and live your life to the extreme. I want to live my life to the fullest and be different from everyone and be a leader. I want to be my own self and make a person out of me. I want to be known by people for being different, and not a follower. I’m usually a follower and I never really thought for myself and I never thought of becoming a leader. I’ll do this by standing up for what I believe in and be myself. I always would be like everyone and I wasn't myself.  Make your lives worth it because one day you’ll be “food for worms”, we all are. I will be different and make myself known for that and make every day of my life extraordinary and not regret anything because this will shape who I am in the future. My plans are to become a someone and not a nobody!

What will your verse be?

What will your verse be?

What is poetry? Why do we read and write poetry in the first place; what is the reason, if not to feel or experience fame ourselves? “We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for...” Poetry is like a mathematical equation that can be solved to find the truth of life, the truth of truly living. You can be alive without truly living. You may have a heartbeat, but no emotion or soul. Life is not only about the necessary concepts of life, life is passion, life is poetry. If you stop to ask yourself “what is poetry,” you should find that you have a fast act of knowledge toward defining the concept that is so easily learned. Poetry is not a concept, but a lifestyle. Poetry is not reading from the lines of a textbook or journal, poetry is passion and passion is life. We do not learn poetry in a way it is meant to be driven into life. We may think that poetry can be learned in a classroom or taught by an academic but what is poetry without the deeper meaning it is meant to cause a reader to feel? Can you be taught what to feel or are emotions a natural way of response toward a cause. What would your life be without the equation of life, without the concept of poetry?
Poetry can date back to ancient times and from then we can learn the same concepts that life today repeats. Any history buff would know that history repeats over and over again in every way possible. Just stop and think about the fact that thousands of times before you (maybe in the same year) there was another and another doing the same thing you are doing at this moment and at almost every moment of every thing you do there is someone doing the same. This concept makes being unique a difficulty to all human beings, but this should cause you to act even more daring (more unique) in order to keep up with all others, it should not deter your life  and your acting as an onliest in your previously mundane lives. “To quote from Whitman, “O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?” Answer. That you are here- that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be? The world defines identity as the fact of being who or what a person or thing is. You can read it over and over again and still feel like it is missing some piece like an unfinished puzzle. The definition of identity does not stop here, it goes much further. Identity is the word that defines you, your identity is your beliefs and your feelings, identity is standing up for these beliefs, it is the group of feelings and emotions that create you. I hope to be able to contribute a great verse on the world before my death. My verse will be one of change, one that will make a difference on the world. My plan is to one day be a trademark of peace and environment by standing for non-violence and by promoting a green thumb across the Earth. I want to make sure that everyone in our world knows that anything they do will make a difference by creating an online-change organization. Through this I hope to begin with the peace between children and then travel onto peace between adults! Identity is the solution to the equation of poetry...
It pays off to stop and think about what your life is in a whole. Life is only a piece to history that does not end in death. After death your life lives in the actions you took part in during your time on Earth. And as it pays to think about your life it pays to stop and think about who would know you without poetry in your life. Who would take the time to remember a person who has no verse contributed in the powerful play of the world, someone without uniqueness, identity, passion, or beliefs. So again ask yourself; What is poetry? Why do we read and write poetry in the first place, what is the reason if not to feel or experience fame ourselves? We do this because poetry equals life and life equals passions plus beliefs and identity! What will your verse be? I know mine!

Seize the day.

                                    Dead Poets Society

“Seize the day, because, believe it or not, each and every one of us in this room is one day going to stop breathing, turn cold and die.” This is a quote from Mr. Keating of Dead Poet’s Society. This quote explains the meaning of life in two sentences. This quote touched me because life goes on fast so you have to live it and make good things happen in this short life. Life is too short to wait for things last minute because anyone can die any day anywhere, of anything. This quote means a lot to me because we haven't got a chance to see what the world is like because we’re not free yet. Right now we all live around nothing but violence. Life is you go to school, you graduate, you get a job, you get married, you have kids, then you die. You can be 10 years old one day, you blink your eyes and then you're 70 years old! Everyone dies so everyone has to live life to the fullest. Seize the day like you're going to die tomorrow!
On my journey through life I'm going to make all right choices and live by this quote. I am going to make sure that my life is a good one. When I choose my path I’ll make sure it is a good path. I’ll try not to make any bad choices and stay with the path I pick. When you choose your path to live be careful because you could go down a wrong road.

“Do not be afraid to pursue your passion. Take control of every single day and bend it to your will.”

“Do not be afraid to pursue your passion. Take control of every single day and bend it to your will.”

This quote was said by Mr.Keating from Dead Poets Society because he didn’t want the boys to fall into conformity and going into the same path. That quote made me think about what my passion is. To be completely honest, I don’t know anymore. I started out wanting to be a ( cat only ) Vet but it just didn’t stick with me. I then wanted to be a Fashion designer. It’s weird because I never actually told anyone that I wanted to go down the road of fashion. I thought it sounded too cliche because doesn’t almost every other girl want to be a fashion designer? I mean I still want to be one but I’m not so certain about it. It’s like I don’t want to be one of those girls who go for the same career but I want to pursue my passion because it is what I can see myself doing in the future. I’m trying not to contradict myself but it is difficult to get my point across without doing it. I’m not taking control of my life and trying to bend it to my will. I don’t know who is to be exact.

I guess that was kind of confusing even for me. What I am basically saying is I don’t want to fit into the category of conformity but I want to go for my passion in life. I’m quite fond of the fact that I enjoy doing it and that I believe I can do it. No one has told me I’m not going to make it or anything because I haven’t built the courage up to say it ( I mean now they know because I said it about two or three times already ).I have made my decision in life but just haven’t taken control. I will though,as soon as I find out how.

Life is a constant battle, and we are forever left on the field...

“This is a battle, a war, and the casualties could be your hearts and souls.” This quote is from “Dead Poets Society”, said by Mr. Keating, the boy’s English teacher. For some reason, this quote stuck to me once I heard it. Maybe it’s because throughout life you suffer from battles. The battle could be anything: addiction, family problems, serious losses, and depression. We fight these battles, some lasting longer than others, some leaving bigger scars than others or some leaving you hanging on your last wits. These battles could be life changing, for the better or for the worse. To me, everyone has a battle they are currently fighting. These battles could be if you should smoke that cigarette today or take another swig of alcohol, or even if you should eat another piece of cake. If you think you're not fighting a battle, then you’re wrong. You’re fighting against whether to face the truth or to keep making excuses to avoid them. These battles could leave you with a broken soul and heart, but some can leave you stronger and sometimes happier.
In “Dead Poets Society”, the boys all had battles of their own. All of which connected to pleasing their parents or living up to their expectations. Some of their battles were less serious, some overcoming them. Neil’s battle was ended short, while Todd’s battle was turning for the better. These boys fought these battles in different ways, but they all had inspiration: Carpe Diem. Mr. Keating helped the boys through this, through it to the very end. They grew stronger, and they learned a few things along the way. They learned that life is a battle, a war, and the casualties could be your hearts and souls.
I don’t know what I’m battling right now. I’m battling something, but it just hasn't come to mind what it could be. I feel as though some of your biggest battles go without you even noticing it until the end. I know I've battled things in the past, some of which I lost, but some of which I came up stronger and tried again to win. The battles of my past have made me who I am right now, and I guess I’m happy. Because if I were to win all these battles, I’m not sure if I would be pleased with myself.  I know as I go on into high school some of my greatest battles will come into play, and I pray that I overcome. These battles however, will change me. They will make me the person I’m supposed to be. I just hope these battles only change me for the better, and make me a better person. I’m not sure if i’m even prepared for these battles, but honestly, is anyone? We shouldn't be fearful of them, but instead build up all the courage and will to come out victorious.  So for now, I'll raise my weapon, and prepare for the battles that will come about in my future. Because, I know life is a battle, a war, and the casualties could be your hearts and souls.

D.P.S. Quote

"Sucking the marrow out of life doesn't mean choking on the bone." Doesn't mean choking on the bone...words to live by.
The world around us is alive and we must dance with it wherever it takes us. Who said that I don’t know; I do know that the man who wrote that drew it from the marrow of life! He woke up and stated his own philosophy to many people and it still lives on today. He sucked the marrow out of life and he gained immortality...what would you gain? I can assure you that actual immortality is not a literal gift, though there are gifts that will become immortal...memories of a first kiss, of first love and even heartbreak will stay with and both haunt you and remind you of the things you took risks to accomplish and how they shaped and excited you. Risks are something humans are naturally scared to do but thankful they did...most of the time.
Taking a risk isn't bad or stupid...believe me I've taken risks they gave me great memories that I love to recall. But risks are where you can choke on the bone and where sucking the marrow becomes harder to define. If you sucked the marrow out of life does that mean to even gorge yourself? By saying this I mean that that you shouldn't take drugs that make you feel on top of the world but actually, try and become a leader,a millionaire, whatever suits you.Don’t go out and have sexual relations with many women because you feel like a ‘’man’’, make love to the love of your life.Look at me I’m giving my honest belief out in the open and using a font that my teacher will surely hate. I advise everyone reading this to go and take a chance on someone or something you love; learn how to fly a plane, write a novel, put all of your trust and love in one person. Just know when it comes to sucking the marrow out of life and choking on the bone.
I hope all who listen and live by this quote and advice live a happy life that gives you great memories.I hope you suck all the marrow out of life and then pick another bone.

Don't choke on the bone.

“Sucking the marrow out of life doesn't mean choking on the bone” said by Mr. Keating from Dead Poet’s Society, it means live freely but don’t die being stupid. Sucking the marrow out of life, taking everything that it’s worth is what life is all about. Reaching out to grab the life raft because you purposely jumped off is not the purpose. People say you're alive and well and in reality the only thing separating you from death is your heart beat. You aren't living until you actually feel it inside that you are alive. You're not supposed to wait for the train to your destination; you're supposed to find your own way there. This quote has truly affected my view of everything. Just from this quote, my entire perspective of life has changed. You're supposed to live life to the fullest but try not to die getting full. With all the hatred and despair holding people back, is it actually possible not to choke on the bone?
Living, truly living in this world, in my opinion, isn't hard. The hard part about it is not to take the dumbest way out of it or to go through making the worst of everything. The way the quote got to me was a simply blunt and straightforward statement. Live being free but don’t abuse that freedom. In other words,  make your mark on the world on in the most positive way possible. I truly have no clue on what living for me could be. I could be crazy, smart, artistic, or just plain and live in moderation of all things, at least I know I can get there. A person can go their entire lives without living. Sure there is breathing but how are they actually living. I don’t know any possible way to actually live, I could try and try but I could never find out. Living to me is doing what I love and being happy with it. I’ll never have to succeed in it if I’m truly happy. I guess that’s the base of live and how you get through it. Be happy and live like you're about to die!

D.P.S Quote (M. M.)

- D.p.s Quote -

“Believe in yourself. Do not abandon your convictions because it is not what others believe.”
You see, I really want to become a known gamer on the internet, and I feel as if this quote relates to me in many ways. It tells me that even though I may do bad in school or people say I won’t make it anywhere in life, I can still follow my dream and do whatever I love to do because that is what I worked for my whole entire life. Even if it involved me putting school, or friends aside, I still followed my dream to get me where I want to be. Even if my parents or friends say it’s stupid or that I will be nothing off of what goals I am trying to achieve, I will still strive for the glory of success and become the thing I always wanted to be.

Your own path in LIFE...

“I want you to find your own walk” is a quote from the Dead Poet’s Society. This quote tells me that I must choose a path that I am going to walk for the rest of my life. It tells me that I should choose a path that is best suitable for me and what I believe. I take this quote and reflect on it in my life because this is  a very important year for me and this quote just sums it up into a few words.
As I graduate from grade school and focus on high school , I must choose a path that is right for me. I must choose a path in life that I won't regret when I get older. I am the only person that can make this decision. By reading this quote “I want you to find your own walk” over and over again , It tells me that I shouldn't follow the person in back of me or in front of me. I should create my own path and walk it with my head held high with no regrets.  High school comes with peer pressure, cliques, hard work and life changing decisions. I believe that by choosing to walk the road that was less traveled on, I will become more successful in life. My goal in life is to become a Pediatrician, a medical doctor who manages the physical and mental health of a child. When I was about four or five years old, I made this decision and have always stuck with it. I have always wanted to work with children because that has always been my natural instinct.
I believe that 80% of Americans have goals in life and don’t follow up because of the path that they have chosen when they were my age. I don’t think that they believed that they could make it that far and look where it has gotten them. From the day that I was born, I was told to believe in anything that I set my mind to. I believe that I will chose the right path in life because of the type of mindset that I have and how focused I am.
There are so many people that believe in me and know that I can do what I set my mind to. I don't want people to walk in my shoes and understand me, I want people to look at the path that I am choosing and create their own way of life. I am creating my own way of life and my future because I know whatever I do, it will always be successful. Have you found  you own walk and created your own path? I have!
